Shining a light on the Enyaq
Shining a light on the Enyaq
As Friday afternoon rolled around, Tori Lomaloma and her husband, Saimon, made their way to Škoda Wellington - eager to collect an Enyaq for a weekend trip away with their young daughters. As they made their way over the Remutaka Hill to Martinborough, they found themselves pleasantly surprised about the luxury features the all-electric Enyaq offered. Tori shared that as a green vehicle, they weren’t expecting the massage chairs or preferred seat settings.
Day turned into dusk and the family arrived at Brackenridge Country Resort, with the Enyaq comfortably getting them all the way there within its 532km range.
Despite the remaining kms, the car was plugged in for charging overnight with Tori falling asleep to thoughts on just how much they had saved on petrol. She says she was also super impressed by how easy it is to just plug the Enyaq into a normal power socket.
In the morning, the exploring continued as Tori and her family drove the Enyaq an hour southeast to Cape Palliser. It was a bright, sunny day so the optional window visors came in handy for the girls sitting in the back seat. Arriving at their location, they visited the lighthouse, enjoyed stunning views of the ocean and saw a seal colony basking in the sun on the rocks.
A peaceful afternoon followed as they finished up a picnic lunch and returned to their accommodation. The massage chairs and comfortable design of the Sportline Max interior a huge relief to their bodies after the 252 stairs climbed to reach the lighthouse.
Saimon’s favourite feature of the Enyaq was the smoothness of acceleration, which he says ensured the peace of the day’s activities continued on the drive back.
On Sunday morning it came time to return back home to Wellington. Tori and her husband used this final drive to test out the energy regenerator feature on the car and were surprised at how many kilometres they could regenerate.
Meanwhile, the girls sat in the back seat after a weekend adventure which had ended with spotting some animals in the grassy paddocks as they were leaving Brackenridge. This special sighting seemed a fitting end to what had been a picturesque trip in the Enyaq.
Tori said the weekend away cemented how well an electric vehicle could fit into her familys’ life. The spaciousness and packing features in the boot had made the EV ideal, describing the Enyaq as “the perfect size for getting out and about and also away for the weekend.”
